Nearly 25,000 Lost Power in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Intense Weather Systems
Around twenty-five thousand residences in Queensland's southeast found themselves lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events impacted the state, generating powerful gusts hitting over 100 km/h.

The recent thunderstorm has absolutely smashed our infrastructure!
Emergency crews were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units deployed to address the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
At the same time, approximately 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also experienced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its most precipitation in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received 598 requests for assistance across the area, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.
Most Affected Locations
- Werribee region - recorded considerable destruction
- Hoppers Crossing - numerous rescue reports
- Wyndham area - over 175 calls for assistance
At one point on the previous day, more than twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Weather Forecast
Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this week as a atmospheric system continued to attract humidity against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential anticipated across multiple regions of both states.
Medical Alert
Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the region.
